California XXV - Tesime se na vanoce

Skoncila mi posledni lekce Quigong.

Adamek se rechta na houpacce. Dejda dela, ze bojuje s podlym nepritelem.

Profrcel hucici nakladni vlak s napisem Union Pacific.

Stavba noveho obchodniho domu, daleko siroko voni drevo.

Mezi nafukovacimi, sviticimi Santa Klausy pred domem stoji i nafukovaci, svitici Sponge Bob.

Dejdovi vypadl prvni zub dole vpredu.

Louskacky v klasicke podobe nemeckeho vojaka na louskani orechu najdete taky, i kdyz vybrat si muzete z cowboye, prezidenta Obamy, bezdomovce, policajta, hasice, cernokneznika, princezny, myslivce atd.

Taky lidi stavi doma kolejiste s vlacky a kazdy rok si zakoupi jeden novy vagonek.

Zitra prijizdi Bara.

Pernicky mame napecene, jeste budeme pect vanilkove rohlicky, pracny a linecke.

A bude bramborovy salat, prodavaji tu brambory rohlicky, i kdyz asi ne Kerkovske.

Tesime se na vanoce.

Children's Picture Books with No Snow :( - California XXIV

Yesterday, I went to Borders to find a little book for my 5yo son for his Tooth Fairy gift. I wanted something simple, warm, eventually with a winter, maybe even Christmas, theme. Besides that I didn't find anything suitable about winter and snow that wouldn't offend my illustrations taste, it took me nearly two hours to sift through tons of unusable picture books. In the end I left with six little books instead of one with the idea of giving him one at a time as a reward or just as a little present. And most importantly, I wanted to spare myself from the ordeal of going through all that again.

So here are my catches. Hope this can help with some decisions and save you some precious pre-christmas time. Enjoy your holidays.

Kids and computers - California XXIII

I just had to lend my computer to David because he heard me playing a Red Hot Chili Peppers song to my work and it reminded him of his favorite video to their song Can't Stop and he wanted to see it and listen to it on YouTube once again.

It's nothing new that he is into computers, games and music but lately it is really fun to watch him. Earlier I had to dictate him letters one by one as he was putting them one per minute into the Google search field, later he memorized how to write down his favorites like LEGO and Gormiti. Now when he's starting to write and read he doesn't need my help that often. He is able to write down 'Yo Tub' and Google helps him to find it. At YouTube he writes 'cantstop' or 'wewilrukyo' and what a surprise, YouTube helps him with that too. So he looks up and listens to his 'own' music. He also loves 'Wake me up when September ends' by Green Day (thanks, Tondo), d'Agostini's Blabla, It's gonna be a good night by Black Eyed Peas and Crazy game of poker by OAR etc.

So as you can see he can spend some time at my computer but I just needed to work. I forced him to leave so he went to play with Lego. There remained his 'kidz helmit' search in the Google field. So that's basically all what he is interested in:)

And this all reminds me of a cartoon I've seen lately on The New Yorker store, son's and father's communication 'Go and ask your search engine'. Here it is.

California XXII - Gas Prices

Na dotaz uvadim aktualni cenu benzinu, tedy tady u nas v San Mateo (viz obcanska reportovaci stranka gasprices), o par kilometru jinde ci pripadne na druhe strane Ameriky to muze byt dost odlisne. Benziny jsou u pump k mani tri, tusim s oktany 87/89/91 v cenach USD per gallon (cca 4 litry) 2.97/3.07/3.17, nafta je kolem $2.90 za galon.

Nase auto Ford Taurus 2004 ma spotrebu, resp. tady se uvadi vykon, 16 mpg (miles per gallon), a neni to nejlepsi auto, ale zdaleka neni nejhorsi. Soucasna nova auta maji vykon kolem 30 mpg.

Bohuzel.
